Fluorosilicone Release Film for Silicone Adhesives

Why Standard Silicone May Not Work
Silicone adhesives can have high affinity for conventional silicone release surfaces, which may result in excessively tight or unstable release. The correct release chemistry must be matched to the adhesive.

What Fluorosilicone Does
Fluorosilicone release coatings modify the surface chemistry to provide release against adhesive systems that are difficult to release from standard silicone. Performance depends on the specific adhesive and coating formulation.

Typical Substrate
PET is commonly used where dimensional stability, smoothness and film cleanliness are needed. Thickness, color, treatment and one- or two-sided coating are selected according to the converting process.

Information Needed for Selection
Provide the silicone adhesive type or supplier/grade where possible, coating weight, lamination and curing conditions, target peel behavior, PET thickness, release side, aging requirement and end-use process.

Do Not Substitute Without Testing
A liner that releases one silicone PSA may not work with another. Sample validation with the actual adhesive is essential before commercial production.

FAQ

Q: Can ordinary silicone liner be used for silicone PSA?

A: It should not be assumed. Many silicone PSAs require fluorosilicone or another specialty release chemistry.

Q: Is fluorosilicone only available on PET?

A: PET is common, but the feasible substrate depends on the coating system and project requirements.

Q: What is the most important qualification test?

A: Direct compatibility testing with the actual silicone adhesive under realistic dwell, temperature and aging conditions.

Technical Note

Release-liner performance is application-specific. Values and material choices should be confirmed using an agreed test method and, where possible, the customer's actual adhesive and converting conditions.
